For Organizations, Institutions and Governments:

You will learn how a risk assessment is designed, what options of management are available to you, what crises can mean to your entity, how to define acceptable and tolerable (societal) risks, how to make better, sustainable and well documented decisions, how other organizations and industries have behaved in the past.

The proper and transparent allocation of remedial/mitigative funding related to natural hazards such as typhoons, flooding, tsunamis, or man-made hazards such as terrorism are on the agenda of many organizations, institutions and governmental agencies. In many cases donors from various countries have to choose among competing projects and humanitarian needs (for example, AIDS vs. mines, malaria vs. education etc). Tools and methodologies geared towards this specific arena as well as decision making are explored in a systematic way, first from a methodological point of view, then with real life examples from many different angles.

Of course, as organizations, institutions and governments are constantly facing public opinion and the media, a part of the book is devoted to the study of this type of interaction, whether they arise from natural or man-made hazards.
